Hey VSA'ers!

My name is Quynh Pham, and I am the current President of VSA uOttawa. I’m in my second year of Honours BSc. with Specialization in Biochemistry, and I'm really excited to be a part of the VSA family this year. For me, being Vietnamese is synonymous with being strong, independent, hard-working and respectful. I'm really proud of my culture and I hope that through VSA, I'll be able to make a difference and promote the importance of maintaining one's identity as a Vietnamese-Canadian in our society.

As far as interests go, I’m a pretty big fan of MTV and its fantastic selection of trashy, staged reality shows (the Hills). I'm a semi-serious pianist, a self-confessed procrastinator and a secret chef (I enjoy cooking food from Vietnamese blogs that I randomly find online). I’m really great at sleeping and late night studying, and my ultimate dream vacation would be to go back to Saigon and eat deep-fried soft shell crab and coconut ice cream 24/7. During the school year, you’ll most likely find me asleep on floor 5 of the library or asleep in the Marion common room. If you do find me, wake me up and I’ll most likely be conscious enough to answer any questions you may have. I hope that 2009-2010 will prove to be a great year for VSA uOttawa, and I look forward to seeing you all at our many epic events! Take care :)

Quynh Pham,
President, VSA Executive Team 2009-2010.
Name: ThucNhi T. Dang
Position: AeVSA Vice-President & External, University of Ottawa
Program: Bachelor’s of Science, Honour’s with Specialization in Biochemistry
Lives At: MRN Common Room, MRT Library, General Hospital, bussing in from Kanata, sleeping around everywhere else.

Hey everyone!

This is my second year on the VSA Executive team, and I’m really excited this year to be a little more involved in planning and coordinating VSA events. One of my biggest goals this year with VSA is to bring back some simpler, more personal events of previous VSAs to the University of Ottawa and work more closely with the newly formed Carleton University Vietnamese Student Association and the greater Vietnamese Community of Ottawa. This year we’ll be bringing back many of our annual classics, like the VSA Coffeehouse, as well as bringing in new and collaborative events. If you see me on campus at all, don’t hesitate to give me a shout. I’m always willing to show you around the University of Ottawa or the downtown Ottawa area if you’re new to Ottawa or listen to new ideas for the club.

Hope to see you around!

ThucNhi Dang,
Vice President, VSA Executive Team 2009-2010.
Hey VSA’ers!

Welcome back to yet another year of school and some fun (hopefully) at the University of Ottawa! Of course, a separate ‘Welcome!’ goes out to all the newcomers (i.e., new students – either beginning their First Year, or transferring) who are joining the VSA family.

I am happy to be returning to the VSA Executive Team for the 2009-2010 academic year, albeit in a role that is not quite as visible as my previous role as Vice President (2007-2008 and 2008-2009), it is still pretty important! This year, I made the decision to take on the position of Secretary and hope to fulfill it to the best of my ability.

This being the fourth year (and perhaps might be my final year) that I have been part of the VSA Executive Team, I feel blessed to have worked with such wonderful people, and have met many awesome individuals too. I hope to see the number of VSA family members grow! Not only do we, the VSA Executive Team, have many events planned, but there are also numerous events that are hosted by the Ottawa Vietnamese Community. We’ll make sure to inform you all of upcoming events via our website, Facebook group, and bi-weekly emails.

If you are new to the family, do not hesitate to contact any one of us on the Executive Team, myself included! If you see me around campus, or singing in the Community as I’ll often do, feel free to say ‘hi’! Have a great year, and I hope to see you all soon!

Secretary, VSA Executive Team 2009-2010
Hey homies! My name is Amanda Mai Vo, people call me AMV cause its 3 times faster and more efficient. I am AeVSA’s Human Resource Coordinator and currently entering 1st year doing Honours Bachelor of Science with Specialization in Human Kinetics. Friends would find me as a hyper, outgoing, humorous and super energetic young individual. Hence, the reason that you would always catch me dancing in the middle of nowhere and laughing for hours on end of the dumbest jokes. I enjoy arts such as dancing, singing, acting and drawing as well as cooking because food is a big part of my life. Again, there would be a high chance of you catching me eating or sneaking a bagel into the lecture halls. As a new member to VSA, I will always be open to new ideas and be ready to work with new people. Besides, I would like to one day meet someone that will be capable of handling my striking personality. *Just kidding* :) On final notes, I am really looking forward to the new events this year and I hope this year will be a great year for VSA as well as for everyone. Chao!

Amanda Mai Vo,
Human Resource, VSA Executive Team 2009-2010.
Hey VSA! My name is Bao Dang and I am the current webmaster for VSA. I am in my second year of Software Engineering. This year is my first year officially as a VSA executive, but I have been working with VSA last year and have help organise many events with them. You'll either find me in the library or in the Marion common room with my headphones on so if I don't automatically respond to you its not that I'm ignoring you but more I can't hear you than anything else. I'm not the most talkative guy, but I'm a great listener and would love to hear your input as to what you have enjoyed this year, what we could do better, or even any suggestions for future events. Anyways I hope you have a great 2009-2010 year and I hope to see you at many of our events.

Bao Dang,
Webmaster, VSA Executive Team 2009-2010.
