The Vietnamese Student Association is an active university students’ group, whose aim is to preserve the Vietnamese culture within our Ottawa region. Our group is composed of approximately one hundred university students and many more members within the Ottawa Vietnamese Community. Each year, we run many events including coffee houses, sports events, food nights, etc. which showcase the Vietnamese culture as well as providing an environment in which Vietnamese students as well as students of various ethnicities can interact and network. This creates an opportunity for students to create strong bonds and friendships with local students in Ottawa, as well as across Canada, which can last throughout their lives. The Vietnamese culture, heritage, and history include stories of extreme hardship and suffering, but also of hope, success, and the Vietnamese people’s will and ability to persevere in the face of adversity. We are proud of our culture and are honoured to share our stories and heritage with Ottawa. Our organization welcomes everyone, from all different ethnicities, backgrounds and ages; it is an organization which learns from each other.
